I understand these records depends on zone runner & named service.
There are 3 slave DNS servers out of which 2 are running in Linux Bind and one acting as F5 GTM slave.
Any DNS records entered in F5 GTM master takes around 1 hour to get replicated to slave servers.
Without this entry, zone updates are not allowed at all.
We have implemented master DNS using F5 GTM zonerunner.
This file is not required for a slave, because this data is fetched from another name server.
To differentiate master and slave files, use the directory This option controls external write access, which would allow clients to make a DNS entry—something not normally desirable for security reasons. But no hosts file exists in the slaves subdirectory for named. Doing a dig a SERVFAIL error when executed on the slave system. on the slave system which forces it to use the primary server and that works without failure. How can I force the primary to resend the zone info to the slave? My dns secondary server (slave) has lost all info related to the zones transferred from the primary.Of course, my local PC uses the secondary to resolve addresses so I can't use virtualmin directly from the browser. The problem lies with serial which is not updated to current date and number of changes per each day after a zone is changed......
